You’ll love this easy to make homemade Irish Cream Recipe. Made from scratch with heavy cream and whiskey gives it a rich smooth taste. I was inspired by my long-time blogging friend Cindy at Skip To My Lou. Her Irish Liqueur recipe is a little different but just as good!

I found the bottles at World Market, but IKEA also has them, which are so easy to decorate and tie a tag to. You could get fancy and etch the bottle beforehand with a monogram or something fun. Here’s a tutorial for Glass etching.
Swing Bottles come in a few sizes. If you’ve got a few gifts to hand out, I’d use a smaller variety.

Does Bailey's Irish Cream go bad or expire? Generally as long as you don't subject it to temperature extremes it will last well beyond the official 2 year "best taste before" date. Over time the taste will change and the liquid tends to go a bit darker but only really noticeable if you do a side by side comparison.
If stored in an air-tight container, homemade Baileys can last up to 2 months in the fridge. The alcohol helps preserve it, but always sniff the mixture first to make sure it hasn't gone off (trust me, you'll know if the half and half has gone sour).
Manufacturers of cream liqueurs point to the effective preservative qualities of alcohol as the reason that refrigeration is not required. Baileys™ guarantees it's product for 2 years from the date of manufacture, opened or unopened, and suggests a storage temperature range of 0-25˚Celsius.
Simply Called Food doesn't recommend freezing Baileys because it will make it hard to pour. If placed in the freezer, the alcohol in the Baileys will not freeze, but the cream will. So go ahead and open a bottle of Baileys and enjoy now and later.
Gluckman told Irish Central that, after getting the call from the IDV, he and Seymour-Davies went to the nearest grocery store and purchased Jameson Irish Whiskey, Cadbury's Powdered Drinking Chocolate, and cream. They mixed it up in a cleaned-out Schweppes bottle, and the rudimentary recipe for Baileys was born.
Irish cream liqueur is wonderfully versatile. It's so rich and full of flavour, so one of the best ways to drink it is straight or over ice, and just savour the taste of the liqueur. It's also great as an ingredient in shooters, co*cktails and warm drinks like coffee and hot chocolate. Here are a few of our favourites!
The beauty of Baileys is that there are lots of ways to mix it up when you want to treat yourself. It goes well with hot drinks, like coffee, hot chocolate, and even earl grey tea. You can mix Baileys with cold drinks, working wonders mixed with co*cktails like an espresso martini or a white Russian.
Vodka producers will usually recommend using an unopened bottle within 30 to 50 years to experience its ideal potency and flavor. An opened unflavored bottle of vodka is shelf stable for about 10 to 20 years before the potency starts to break down with oxidation. This makes vodka a great option for well drinks.
If you want to store Kahlua for longer, put it in the refrigerator. Refrigerating it will keep its taste fresh for a long time, but don't freeze it because that can damage the quality of the beverage.
If so, you'll be pleased to learn that yes - Baileys does contain a minute amount of caffeine! Though it's not something many people tend to think about, having an understanding of what ingredients are in your favorite alcoholic beverage can help keep you safe and informed when enjoying it.
Baileys is made from the very best of premium quality dairy cream, triple-distilled whiskey, and fine spirits. It takes about 220 million liters of fresh cream from 38,000 top-bred Irish dairy cows (Baileys Ladies) for the creation of baileys annually.
Born in Mexico, in 1936, Kahlúa comes steeped in history, with a rich and colorful heritage. Made with 100% Arabica coffee beans and rum, Kahlúa coffee liqueur is one of the main ingredients in many of the world's favorite co*cktails.
Liqueurs that contain dairy, cream, or egg should be consumed as soon as possible. Drink liqueurs like Baileys Irish Cream and Amarula within a year of opening; RumChata should be drunk within six months of opening. Even in unopened bottles, these liqueurs may spoil and be undrinkable after a year and a half or more.
Does Liquor Expire? Unopened liquor has an indefinite shelf life. Opened liquor lasts about a year or two before it goes bad, meaning it starts losing its color and flavor. Don't use a liquor for well drinks if you won't use the whole bottle within two years.
Unopened liquor of all kinds will generally keep indefinitely if stored properly. Store out of direct sunlight, tightly sealed, in a stable room-temperature environment. Once opened, distilled spirits like whiskey and gin won't expire or become unsafe to consume, but they may start to taste “off” after 1–3 years.
